SAFEPOINT: ACCURATE RADIO LOCATION WITHOUT GPS.

The police dispatcher has a big problem. An officer in hot pursuit has been forced to enter a thickly wooded area on foot or the suspect will vanish. Back-up is still minutes away. No identifying landmarks in sight. It's a rough night with high winds and rain. How do you find your officer and direct the other arriving officers before the situation goes from bad to worse?

SafePoint, a new, innovative radio location system developed by Locus Technologies of Melbourne, Florida, allows dispatchers to zero in on radio transmissions without modifications to the radio or the radio network. SafePoint is able to locate mobile or portable radio transmissions even inside most buildings and vehicles, as well as under smoke, rain and in dense foliage - situations in which GPS technology often falls short. SafePoint is in currently use by Police, Fire/EMS, and public transportation departments, providing a more "personal" solution than other location systems.

AT WORK IN THE FIELD.
SafePoint is currently operational in Brevard County, Florida, detecting radio transmissions from a trunked radio network. The system is in daily use locating Fire/Rescue and Police Department radio transmissions. The accuracy of the SafePoint system was recently put to the test to determine the position of a stolen radio that was quickly traced within 150 feet of the thief's home. Even with this amazing technology, the goals are the same - protect the people in the field and get the bad guy.
