What does Radio DiagnostX do?

DiagnostX solves a big and expensive problem – radio maintenance. Public safety agencies across the nation are feeling the pinch of a poor economy.  Tasked with the job of doing more with less, everyone is looking for creative ways to manage shrinking budgets and maximize efficiency.

Thanks to DiagnostX unique technology, agencies can now tell if the mobile and portable radios in their trunked networks are operating to specification remotely, eliminating the need to bring all radios in from the field for testing and service.

DiagnostX operates like an “over-the-air” bench technician that is on the job 24-hours a day, 7-days a week.  DiagnostX constantly monitors all radios on a network and accurately identifies which radios are functioning properly and which radios are in need of alignment/service.

DiagnostX provides agencies with the opportunity to take a more proactive approach to radio maintenance. It eliminates the need to schedule annual maintenance on every radio or to wait until a radio fails. “Sick” or problem radios can be quickly identified and conveniently brought in for service while working radios can stay out in the field where they are needed most.

Where are the cost-savings?

For agencies that regularly schedule preventive or annual maintenance on thousands of radios, installing DiagnostX can mean significant savings in both dollars and man-hours.  The primary reason is simple: most radios don’t need repair.

Empirical studies show that some 70% to 80% of radios brought in for preventive maintenance are found to be operating within specification.  Scheduling only “sick” radios for repair reduces costs of large service contracts.

With fewer radios to service, technicians can be more productive and focus on solving other system issues.

The number of man-hours saved adds up.  One DiagnostX user claimed a saving of 250 man-hours the very first week after the technology was installed. Another estimates that, without DiagnostX, it would take two staff members working full-time three months of each year to test all of the radios on its network.

Today, radio communications departments from Florida to Colorado and Kansas to New York are taking advantage of DiagnostX’ one-of-a kind technology to cut costs and increase productivity.

How does it improve customer service?

Radio users want radios they can rely on, clear communication and easy maintenance. DiagnostX gives them all three.

When a user is having trouble communicating it can be the result of any number of issues. It might be the result of a weak signal (a common problem in rural or mountainous areas), a glitch on the network or a faulty radio. DiagnostX immediately determines if the radio is the problem, defusing much of the frustration experienced by radio users, dispatch and system managers.

The reports DiagnostX generates make it easy for the communications team to prioritize maintenance, coordinate convenient service and arrange for replacement radios. In addition, management can take advantage of these reports to keep an eye on how the service team is responding to and handling repairs.

Knowing that DiagnostX monitoring is regularly checking each radio also boosts user confidence that their radio will be working when they need it.
