FAQs
What is DiagnostX?
DiagnostX is a novel over-the-air radio waveform analyzer that monitors the performance of the radios in the system to determine whether individual radios are functioning properly and meeting FCC performance requirements. It operates over a long-range, 5+miles radius, 24-hours a day, 7 days a week.
What are the benefits of using DiagnostX?
Studies show that 70% to 80% of radios brought in for annual or preventive maintenance are found to be operating within specifications. DiagnostX’ ability to diagnose “sick” radios over-the-air translates into significant savings on service contracts and eliminates staff time wasted testing healthy radios. It also allows working radios to stay out in the field where they are needed most.
Who is using DiagnostX?
Public safety agencies from Colorado to New York and Florida to Kansas have installed DiagnostX to increase efficiency, cut costs and improve service.
What systems do I need to use DiagnostX?
DiagnostX functions with the following frequency bands: 900, 800, 700, 400, 150: and with the following protocols: P25 Trunk & P25 Conventional, Motorola SmartNet & SmartZone, EDACS.
What is involved with installation?
The DX-1000c unit is a 4U rack mountable device; standard 19 inch rack. The device is connected to the RX antenna at the multi-coupler and to a standard AC 110v outlet. No other connection is needed.
How is data collected?
The DX-1000c collects the radio’s inbound control channel message to make an intelligent measurement of the waveform. An average of 12 entries is collected to determine if there is a radio performance issue. A monitor/keyboard/mouse is connected to the DX-1000c unit to view the findings.
Is training provided?
Training is available remotely or onsite.
Is the device secure?
Since the unit does not need to be connected to the network, there is no issue with the security of the unit.
How is it priced?
MSRP is $49,900. A unit can be moved around periodically to different sites to collect data or a unit can be purchased for each remote site. Discounting is available for purchase of multiple units on a system. Contact a sales representative at Locus Diagnostics for more details.
What if a site/system has multiple bands?
Each unit is programmed with the frequency band and protocol, therefore this information is needed when placing the order. For a single site with multiple bands, a single unit can be used based on the band of the control channel. However, for two sites with different bands on the control channel, a separate unit programmed to that band needs to be used.
