GETTING TECHNICAL.
Intelligent RF (radio frequency) sensors are installed at existing tower sites (antenna). Sensors listen for the control channel transmissions. When an officer in the field keys his or her radio, the system's CAP (Central Analyzer Processor) identifies the officer and calculates that officer's position based upon the slightly different times each tower receives the signal.

Multiple agencies (fire, sheriff, public utilities etc.) can each share one SafePoint system to keep expenditures at a minimum and for interoperablity. Separate software in the different Dispatcher workstations and Mobile Data Terminals at the participating agencies will access the data and display their pertinent data on their own monitor maps as well as recording it into their database.

SAFEPOINT EVEN PROTECTS ITSELF.
An added feature of the SafePoint system is its ability to record diagnostics for the radios in its network to check for those with problems. Better to find out now, if a radio is likely to fail in the field, than later when a failure could be life threatening. Just one more way that Officer Safety remains SafePoint priority one.
